Using data from FAU deployments, Engineering Scale Units (ESUs) assess the
potential of full-scale production at a customer site. In addition, an ESU produces biofuels
and feed for characterization.
During this phase, host facility operations are not disrupted.
GreenFuel's ESU at the 1,060-megawatt Arizona
Public Service Redhawk facility marked the
first time that smokestack gases
were used to grow algal biomass
for conversion into biofuels. Read more
about this installation in the
Performance
Summary Report. The project won
Energy Emissions Project of the Year at the 2006 Platts Global
Energy Awards.
